Ian Beaumont

Biography

Ian describes himself as ‘an eclectic kinda guy’; he is a fan of science-fiction, especially Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars, but also loves documentaries too. His musical tastes range from classical to modern pop, and ‘a lot of stuff in between.’

He also enjoys old movie serials and old time radio, but strives to keep his finger on the pulse of life. Ian says that ‘it’s that weird mix that makes me interesting to listen to, yet different from just about any other radio presenter out there on the dial.’

Previously, Ian has appeared on hospital radio at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and the City Hospital back in the 1990s, so he may be a familiar voice to some of you, but even if you’ve never heard him before, Ian hopes you will enjoy what you hear on the show, and that you’ll make it a regular appointment in your weekly calendar.

Previous Jobs
I used to be a Duty Manager and Team Leader at a supermarket in Truro. I have had many years experience in radio doing Hospital Radio at what is now CHBN, but was known as Truro Hospital Radio when I was there. I also spent some time working at BBC Radio Cornwall, and later I worked with CSV Media, helping to train people to work in Journalism and Radio Production.

I also spent a couple of months with Radio Plymouth. I’ve had a number of other shorter jobs and roles, ranging from being a bartender, to a directory enquiries operator. Overall, I’ve had an eclectic life so far.
