Deth Da/ Hi there !
I’m Mike Chappell and with the assistance of my good friend Tony Leamon we shall be producing and broadcasting a new programme on Source FM entitled ‘One and All – Speaking out with a Cornish voice’.
As we are both members of the Cornish Branch of the Celtic League, we want the programme to reflect the rich diversity that is Cornwall and the other Celtic Nations and intend to play Celtic music, talk about the Cornish Language and dialect, read a little Cornish poetry, interview people about Celtic and Cornish issues, look at place names, history, heritage and a whole lot more including a weekly small prize competition. We hope to interview politicians, campaigners, authors, musicians and others.
I was born in Redruth and although I have travelled the world and visited 43 other countries and lived overseas, I have returned to Cornwall because it is the ‘place I want to be.’ I have a family tree which shows my predecessors as living in St Buryan back in 1510 and so am as Cornish as they come!
Tony is a Falmouth boy although he believes his name originally came from Brittany.
Neither of us have any experience in radio broadcasting although I have often been interviewed on radio and write for magazines and newspapers about Cornish and Celtic issues..
Together we want to bring a bit of real Cornwall and the Celtic World to the airwaves!
We are often joined by our good buddies Mark Lewiss, and Bjorn Guald who bring a bit of youth and original input to our show.
