Will Hawkes

Producer and Presenter of Will Hawkes Wild Life Talks

Will Hawkes

Hi! I’m Will Hawkes and I’m an Insect Migration Scientist and Conservationist from North Wales. I have never known a time I haven’t loved wildlife and our incredible natural world. From catching flies on a Pyrenean pass, to chasing dragonflies who cross the Indian Ocean, my research has taken me around the world.

I am now working for insect conservation charity Buglife in Cornwall, creating wildflower habitat and hopefully inspiring humans to love these beautiful little animals. There are just so many stories to tell and I cannot wait to share them with you.

From insects who fly thousands of kilometres each year to mosses who glow deep in ancient Cornish caves, the natural world is full of the most remarkable stories. Listen to Will Hawkes’ Wild Talks for a mix of nature, folklore, and music, Wednesdays 5-6 pm on The Source FM.

Program Sponsor

The program is bought to you by Buglife - Kernow Wyls, an ambitious project, National Lottery Funder, aiming to create 25 hectares (35 football pitches worth) of wildflower habitat for the incredible and vitally important pollinator species of insect along the north and south coast of Cornwall.

It will create a nature-rich travel corridor for our pollinators and other invertebrates to move across the landscape, recolonise sites, increase in numbers, and flourish in the future.
